The electrons emitted by the filament in the mass spectrometer chamber oscillate back and forth in the chamber, and collide with the gas in the chamber and the helium gas entering the chamber through the leak to ionize them into positive ions. These helium ions enter the magnetic field under the action of the accelerating electric field. The Lenz force produces a deflection, forming an arc-shaped orbit, and changing the acceleration voltage allows ions of different masses to pass through the magnetic field and the receiving slit to reach the receiving pole and be detected. Helium injection method and helium absorption method are the two most commonly used methods for helium mass spectrometer leak detectors in resistance furnace leak detection.
